Concepts, Comments & Cookies
Economic Development Director, Ron White
Mr. White excerpts, with accompanying handouts, the presentation the City of Independence has developed resulting from the public research on senior housing and downtown revitalization. In addition he will update the most recent phone survey results.
Senior Coalition Comments
Mr. John Nicastro, spokesperson for the Independence Senior Coalition, will provide a point of view advocating the creation of a senior housing development in the City of Independence.
Aging in Place, An Alternative?
Independence resident Mr. Jeff Budzowski, Graduate Master Builder and Certified Aging-in Place Specialist, has taken courses developed by the National Association of Home Builders and the AARP on how to modify a home allowing owners to occupy the home throughout their aging process. The modifications target people age mid 50’s and up. This presentation is also extremely valuable to adult children of seniors who must make decisions forthcoming regarding their parents as homeowners. Handouts will be available following Mr. Budzowski’s presentation.
Coffee and Cookies will be available to attendees. Realizing that the presidential debate will be aired at 9pm., the Homeowners meeting will end promptly just before 9pm.
